Type and form exercises focusing on one of my favorite albums by the composer
of composers Steve Reich.
ECM Records (the label that released the record) have such a distinct identity for all its vinyl and cd covers, the art director Manfred Eicher takes a very minimalist approach with excellent use of negative space and abstract moody photography that feature on the covers.
One consistent in ECM's releases is the use of the typeface Univers.
I choose to feature Univers as homage across all the designs created,
I wanted to emulate Manfred's aesthetics but use abstract forms instead of imagery.
Im hoping to create more designs like this that will help push my understandings of type and form, how to balance them better and ultimately create better designs.
